That makes no sense at all. Presidencies only last 4-8 years. It'd be stupid to force people to hold off on family matters for something as peripheral and ephemeral as that.
In ancient times kings were required to sacrifice their children in order to stay in power. See "The Illiad."

You're reading Do you believe Presidents should be required to be celibate and not have kids, so as to prevent favoritism in policy?

Okay, what about Congress?

I really don't see what 'favoritism' ANYONE with kids will show. Over whom? Without families, you can't *have* a gov't for very long.

Profiteering and selling out to special interest groups to increase their children's inheritance.
by Have A Nice Day on November 21st, 2009
That kind of thing isn't about kids, it's about selfishness. We cannot afford to have criminals like that in office. The People NEED to be aware so they can get rid of parasites like that. Too bad the Media won't let the secrets slip.

Let's put it this way, if a person had their every current need and want taken care of, and knew their family name died with them, they wouldn't have any reason to squirrel away anything.

With an effective death penalty like that, who would be idiotic enough to run for office?
by LarryH54 on November 21st, 2009
People with a desire to help the greater good.
