And Please what ever you do, don't listen to anyone that tells you to drink alcohol to sleep. I'm sure they mean well and think they are helping, but they're not. Alcohol will interfere with your rem sleep, so therefor it will be like not sleeping a wink. Furthermore, alcohol is a depressant. That is the last thing you would want to drink since you are depressed. Alcohol will double the effects of your feelings of sadness. So please, don't touch the alcohol.

find activities that you enjoy, make time for yourself, make sure your looking after your body. exercise is good for you and your piece of mind.A balanced diet also makes a world of difference to improve your state of mind. Most importantly find someone unbiased whom you trust to share those deep dark feelings with, just expressing those thoughts can make a world of difference. If you feel uncomfortable with this try an outreach program or most cities have places that offer free counseling. personally i think antidepressants and drugs just make you lose your personality and you can become dependent. I would stick to natural remedies, try a health food store or go to a natural-path specialist they can help with chemical imbalance. Dark chocolate in moderation can also help to give you a nice boost. Hope you talk about your feelings and take good care of yourself. Take a nice warm bath or shower have some good food curl up in a blanket with a good book or heart warming movie and take care of yourself. Know that your not alone and it will get better.

No. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They will try to put you on drugs and try to manipulate your mind, but don't let them do it because it will go away with time. +5

Depression is caused by heavy thoughts about problems and stuffs.. You might try alcohol to sleep but it'll make your head hurts in the morning..
If you go to a psychiatrist,he/she'll give you antidepressant to pump your Serotonin up so you'd feel better.. But it's only temporary..
So the most effective way is to find out what troubles you and get rid of it..
    Good luck

There are many treatments for those, alcohol isn't a good idea at all,it is a depressant and will contribute to further difficulties.

The depression causes sleep disorders, and sleep disorders contribute to depression, they really do go hand in hand.

I am bipolar,I have had sleep problems this entire year,I am medicated for the bipolar yet still have some sleeping difficulties,so the good doctor has allowed me sleep medications,Sonata,Trazodone and Ambien are the big three for the treatment of sleep problems.

To sum it up,,sleep may or may not happen once treated for the depression,I think that is foremost in this situation, once depression is under control and if you can't sleep well, the other meds might be advised.

Hope you are doing better soon.
