Once you start getting these things, a new one can be triggered by sunlight or stress.

I forgot to add: Take the medicine at the FIRST SIGN of an outbreak, which will be a tingling feeling on your lip. That won't prevent the fever blister (also called "cold sore") from appearing, but it will lessen the severity, not make it hurt so much and make it go away faster.
