My mom only has my little sister living with her (17 going on 18 in December). As I said my mom doesn't make much money but if she paid all her bills she would have money left over for food and such.
Well, my mom just complained to me the other day that her electric and water bills have gone up because my sister's boyfriend has been hanging around a lot.
However, my little sister has told me numerous times about how my mom will order crap off of QVC (back in the day) and now she buys loads of crap off of Ebay. My mom has spent near-on $400 this month alone on Ebay. My sister has also told me there have been times where my mom hasn't gone out to buy food when they've needed it because she "doesn't have the money," yet she'll go to other stores to buy "other things".
I can't help her financially because I am married and we own our own house and have our own responsibilities. However, I just got myself a new car and have given my old Cavalier to my little sister (so she will HAVE a car to get away in sometimes when she gets her license, heh).
I've talked to my mom numerous times in the past about her spending habits. She had to move out of her last rental home because she couldn't pay the rent. I just don't know what to do! I feel so bad, it feels wrong to ignore the situation, but there isn't much I can do to help it would seem either. My mom just doesn't listen when I try to talk money matters with her, or she lies through her teeth about her spending or so it would seem.
