In my opinion, being close to her is not the best idea for you because this way you'll always feel pain and will not be able to move on. If she doesn't know about your love may be you should tell her and explain how hard it is for you to be her friend only. I think if she's your really close friend and she cares, she'll understand you, be gentle and let you go.
You should tell her how you feel, but don't be pushy with your feelings and make sure you tell her that you still want to be friends and everything even if she doesn't feel the same for you.

You should tell her. If the feelings arent reciprocated, you will have to respect the boundaries of the friendship and not be offended.
Has/does anyone here have a lover that your family didn't/doesn't like or disowned you for? Why do families do this?
