Is it because Eve couldn't control herself in the Garden that women now have to obey men?

No. Women have never obeyed men except in public. Women's greatest strength lays in persuasion. Women in history didn't need to be strong or powerful they were the foundation of the home. Women have been the makers of men, of civilization, and of empires.

No, that's just a made-up story to justify misogyny.

Since when do women obey men? Since you lived in Saudi Arabia?
I don't think it was a matter of a lack of self control, it was something more insidious... I think it was something akin to man's lack of satisfaction with what he already has, maybe avarice is the right word.

I don't believe in the Genesis story anyway, but I definitely don't believe women obey men.

I myself can be a slave to pretty girls. =P

I would also never expect a girl to "obey" me... Unless she was into that. ;)

I'd like to visit your world sometime. From what I've seen in every relationship it's the woman who's incharge.

Genesis 3:16 To the woman He(God) said, I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.

It doesn't say Obey , but it says man will rule over you.

That's what the Bible says, but I think a lot of women don't have to "obey" men these days unless they want or have to (eg., in a cult).

Why does Eve get blamed for everything? You know, she wasn't holding a gun to Adam's head when he chose not to obey....

The only man I have ever felt the need to obey was my dad!

Some men are weak, some women are weak but I have never experienced a shortage of good women where as good men well that's a bit harder, therefore over bearing women simply get replaced that coupled with the fact that there are more women than men in the world every man could have a woman but the opposite is not true. IMO this is why women obey men. +2

The first woman, Lilith refused to lay on her back for Adam, and saw herself as his equal therefore she left him. Lilith then became vilified by the scribes of Judah, Eve was first betrothed to the first man, Samuel, and after the birth of Cain, Samuel died. Adam then coupled with Eve, but emnity between Eve's first son Cain and her two sons with Adam, Abel and Seth, led to a fight between Cain and Abel. Cain defeated Abel. Cain 's mark was not a curse at all and Catholics have the mark put on them on Ash Wednesday. Cain's distinction was being a farmer, craftsman and builder, where Seth's distinction was being a shepherd, nomad, and priest.
The scribes of Judah re-edited the stories to fit in with their justification of the war against the Kingdom of Israel and Edom. Therefore Women, Edomites, Israelites and the Babylonian myths were all vilified as a consequence.

No.....its because men instinctively know how to protect there family, and women instinctively know how to nurture them....its hard for a boy to learn to be a man from his mother, but a daughter in most cases will always want to look after her dad.

We are made different, and God answered simply the question of the sexes...in that he said we are EQUAL...its "Religion" that has evil-ised this...and it was CHRIST who came as the Living WORD and WAY to stop this from continuing.....unfortunately man finds it easier to follow other men and thus we continue to ignore that Jesus has already paid the price, set us free, and made us clean...the war has been won, all you have to do is believe he won it. The rest of christianity...well that comes when the spirit washes over you with your rebirth....if you accept jesus as your saviour...you cant help but want to love humanity and help them. Its natural...its THE GOD DNA.
