Help answer this question below.
How can you disagree with a question? Do you mean that you found an answer interesting and to the point, but that you disagreed with it?
Yes, I do give points for good answers that I disagree with.
And I never downgrade.
yes a good question deserves recognition +5
Interesting questions and answers get points from me. Makes no difference if I agree or disagree with them. I am here to pass the time.
Sometimes. If I simply disagree, I will give points. If I found it offense, I will not point at all. I do not DR at all though.
I do occasionally if I feel the question was done with the intent of knowledge. I pose questions that will occasionally rub people the wrong way. Not to anger them but to get a straight answer to my question. Some take it personal. So if I do run into a question I feel was asked in earnest but I don't agree then I will oppose the question but still give them points for asking.
If the question seems just immature, I will ignore it and assign no points unless the question is a fun one to answer.
If the question is made to harrass or just for shock value to gain points or to actually hurt someone on AB then I may down rate them and comment as to why I oppose the question or answer.
I rarely down rate unless it was extremely rude or nasty in some way.
If you give someone a downrating because you disagree with their answer, it would deter individuals from giving opposing opinions (let's face it, much of what is found on this site are questions of opinion and not fact). I think that would be against the "spirit" of AB. Funny thing is, that I have given people points on answers that I disagree with....and then they turn around and downrate my answer >.<
I know that in many of my own answers/comments to questions of opinion, I will state my own opinion and then add the opposing argument (to show that I am aware of the other side(s) of the debate).
Everyone who answers a question of mine gets the maximum 6 points CL. I think you know that. Whether I agree or disagree is irrelevant. The only guarantee I have of my being impartial is giving everyone the same number of points. You will never figure out my position on any issue by the number of points I give...only in my comments. Why punish people simply because you disagree with them? That isn't fair. At least that's how I see it my friend! :) ((hugs))
If I find a question disrespectful or otherwise offensive I will (normally) flag it and move on,once or twice I have commented/answered to maybe get a response to why they are asking/responding to something, allowing the person to return responses,if they are in a mood (as I thought they might be)they show their true colors and I'll either not dr,but not rate either,if they are rational in their response,I'll add points, even if I don't always see their point of view,,everyone has a bad day every once in a while.
i give points to everyone thats one way to keep track on the questions that i/ve answered
Sometimes, yes. It depends upon how stupid I think the question is. : )
If you disagree with a question then it's either a loaded question or you should check your own ability to be objective.
I give max points to anyone I answer. If I found the question totally repulsive, I would just flag it and move on. +4
For me if a question is worth answering it's worth max points. If it's interesting/ thought-provoking enough for me to want to read it's answers then it's also worth max points whether I answer it or not.
Yes of course as long as they are not offensive or abusive..I would give them points for a good question :D
I give well written questions or cleverly written ones points every time.
Questions that are heavily slanted or that give the responders limited options in their response are the ones that usually earn a down rate from me.
I do give points to those I disagree with if their responses are well written or interesting.
You are not paying them in cash or anything. What is the big whoop? I give points to anyone I answer because they made the effort and it's their opinion. Unless the question is so dumb as to be offensive. Then they get the royal DR with my compliments.
If i find the answer or question to be stupid then I dr it. If I find the question to be fun or interesting I give it points. I dr all questions of a sexual nature. Keep it on Adult AB. There are children here.
If I answer a question, I always give full points and I never DR. I have flagged a few.
I would do as long as I don't really disagree.
+5
If their answer has some thought behind it yes. I wanted an answer to my question, so I can't be very picky about what I get (but no crap please).
All the time.
Must be the Christmas spirit.

You're reading Would you give points? I came across a question today which I totally disagreed with but it was an interesting question and had a lot of people talking. I gave them points tho I disagreed. Do do the same if you disagree?
Comments
The only reason people will disagree with a question is if it directly questions their beliefs.
As evidenced by the fact that Christians don't like their religion being called the most detrimental thing to happen to humanity... sheesh.

The person stated what they believed to be fact, their opinion about it and then asked if readers agreed with their opinion. That's how you disagree with a question. Thanks for responding

There seems to be a troll onboard. Little kids with too much time on their hands I guess. I have given you +6 to help bring you back up.

what is wrong with these trolls? -- or was he or she trying to be ironic, considering the nature of the question? ...
by centrator on November 21st, 2009
Hardly so. There is no irony in what trolls do.
They do what they do in attempts to hurt or piss people off.
by Tyrunea on November 21st, 2009
Also, they're to retarded to appreciate some good irony.
by Tyrunea on November 21st, 2009
Good point Tyrunea.
Centrator, I think they have a control issue. Also an issue with too little in their brain and too much time on their hands. It's so stupid. I don't care if they DR my question (which I can never understand) but I hate when they DR those who respond to it.

Trolls are not understandable.
by Stronghart on November 22nd, 2009
They are. Its like trying to understand why animals act the way they do...
We can dissect them all we want, but we will never know for sure.
