Honestly... I sometimes forget... Or I'll think I've already done it when I haven't... Sometimes when someone comments and I go back to my answer, I remember that I haven't added points, and I'll remedy the situation. It's rarely intentional.

Point hogs are farther ahead of the pack if they never give points, right? Also sometimes it takes awhile for Newbies to get with the program. Number of points though is never relevant to the value of the question in my opinion. Some really great questions get very few points and some that are inanely repetitive the whole AB world seems to love. Points schmoints..baloney! :)

I always give points to questions I answer unless I plan on flagging it as nonsense or offensive.

It helps me recognize questions I've already answered when they come up again on the front page later on.

Rudeness, laziness, lack of really caring about the question.

Some questions people answer because they are against the question so they do not think it is worth giving points.

I've been wondering the same thing ever since I first joined. I sometimes ask a question and have to go do something but I really try to always give pts if they are deserved when I come back. What gets me is....when someone asks a question, someone answers it and leaves, they get pts and sometimes have more than the person who ask the damn question!!!!!!!! HAVE mercy....thanks, I feel much better!

Some just forget, some (I guess) wait until they get points for their answers. I have a system to prevent me from forgetting it :) ...I score the question, and then answer it.

The first thing I do before I answer a question is to give points to the asker. When I ask a question, I always give points to who ever answers, as long as I know about it. Sometimes a glitch in the system doesn't always let me know when I have new answer. I do get annoyed when I take the time to think and give a good answer, only to have it sit there ignored.

I don't know! I've noticed that too. If I ever didn't give points, it was a mistake. I try to give points the first click to the question so I don't overlook it.

same reason as some never go back and point those who answer their questions. i call it lack of manners.

I always try to give points, but this site has a terrible glitch that won't allow me to give points until I hit refresh a few times. It seems to have something to do with loading ads. If I can't wait for it to figure out when it will work, I try to come back and point later.

So perhaps the glitch is one of the reasons for not getting the points that you think you should be getting?

Sometimes it is unintentional I think but most of the time it's down to rudeness. I think it's pathetic when an answer has 40 points and the asker only has 5 points. People love to ask questions so they can have points and move up but they think it's ok to not give them.

Some are new, some forget, some don't point at all, and some are just concerned about their own points.

I think some get wrapped up in the question and forget to assign points. I've done that a few times. Especially it the question was amusing and I was laughing to hard at the time.
I'll usually will go back and give them points later.

Most are newbies who don't understand the system. Or they are people who don't care about points but don't realize that others do. +4

Yes, it's a pity. We answer to the best of our knowledge and they haven't the GO in them to either answer or make a comment. I am thinking of making a list of those who don't answer so I don't bother with their questions.

Sometimes I notice if you give pts then change the page, if you don't wait long enough they don't get given. I hate it more when you answer someones question and they don't take the time to give them.

I often don't give points to a question until I get some sort of feedback from the questioner.

    I always do.
But in reverse there are a few people at very high levels who do not give points to the people who answer their questions. I no longer look at their questions.
    .
If anyone checks the highest 25 and look at their questions, they collect points and have not given one point on their answers ONLY SOME OF THEM!!! I guess they think, "Suckers" but that is typical of greedy people. I also thought it was absurd that a party was given for them at the highest levels too.
    .
So if you're a greedy person and want to make it to the top in AB in a shorter time than usual, post lots of questions and watch the point pour in.

I *always* give points to the questions I answer if I get a feedback that *could* have come from the asker (points or comments). Users who don't seem to be interested in my answers just get my answers, but no points (except if they have luck and I think they made the feedback).

Give points to Q's? Why? They don't ask for points, they ask for answers, so I've done my part.
Points are utterly useless, if someone asks "What's your favourite colour?" That's a Q that has many different answers, no way is one answer better than another on such a question, therefore the points are ridiculous.

I don't give a rat's arse for points, but it's so childish on here, I have people following me around, people I obviously crushed like a paper cup in an argument, down-rating everything I write, no matter what it is, so again I repeat, the points are utterly useless.
