Whatever you decide to speak about you should both be in agreement and on the same page.
My husband and I do not. We pay the bills every month together and that's it. His money is his, my money is mine. We spend our extra money however we see fit. We also have a bill called "savings", this is money we save together for vacations and what not we agreed on an amount that we both throw in and we don't use it unless it is for something we do or want together.
My partner and I don't discuss everything. Once bills are paid we have a certain budget for leisure spending, and as long as we stick within budget it doesn't matter much what we spend it on. We would discuss larger purchases (anything over about £100) before purchase.
Why? She knows nothing of how much work it takes for me to maintain our income. She has made it abundantly clear that she will continue to liquidate all of our assets at any rate she damn well pleases.

You're reading Should you speak with your partner about every aspect of spending? Should you speak with them about a budget for surprises or little extras for each other? Should you speak with them about things you need for yourself i.e.. fit class, personal organizers?
