It depends on the wording of the account, is it Mr. and Mrs. X on the account or is it Mr. or Mrs. X. *And*, *or* are two very important words and the deciding factor. If it's the word *and* on the account your father will need you to sign off on it. If it's *or* you better try and beat him to the bank and get the money shifted into another.
You may also want to speak to the bank manager so that they are aware that you have POA over your mother's portion of the account.
I don't think so, I would get a lawyer or speak to an agency advocate for the elderly. I have power of attorney for someone too, and no one can touch anything that has his name on it without my approval.

You're reading Mum has been placed in a nursing home and i have power of attorny and guaridanship. My father wants to transfer all funds from their joint account to his personal account thus restricting my mothers access to their joint funds. Legally can he do this.
