During Prohibition, would you expect that the quality of liquor in speakeasies who paid bribes to police would be high or low?

    i'd expect that, as a group, payers of bribes to police probably offered higher quality liquor than did those speakeasies that didn't. i'd also expect that the quality of liquor has increased significantly since prohibition ended.

    Probably both. You get what you pay for, much like today. Regular bar rum would contain less alcohol by proof than a top shelf rum which has a higher alcohol content. The bribes paid to cops were for them to look the other way. Speak easy or not, serving alcohol was against the law.
