Who says it wants to exit the well? Maybe it likes the well! There are no birds or other predators there; it's cool and shady, and there's enough moisture to live on. What's wrong with living in a well, I want to know?! Who are you, a non-well dweller, to say where a snail should or should not live?! That's pretty presumptuous, isn't it?

What if the snail had posed a question such as: "A human has to go to work every day to earn a buck. It needs to earn a million bucks to retire. But each day's commuting costs, wardrobe, meals, etc. cost about 90 cents. How long will the human have to work to be able to retire?"

See? Not only does the calculation have you working for several million years in order to retire, it assumes that the only reason you work is to be able to retire! In my case that's simply not true: I'm working so that I don't ... um ... fall down a well, and have to live with the snails.

Depends on when the snell fell into the well. If he fell in during the day it would be 30. If it fell during the night it would take 32 days.
