    It would have to be three, since that's the most possible in one inning. And I imagine that it has been done by many players.

    Isn't it possible to get more than one assist on a single play--as in a rundown or "pickle" that produces a single out? It would therefore be possible to get more than three assists in an inning. Kind of like my favorite trick question...what is the record for most strikeouts in an inning by a pitcher. The answere--and it has been done a few times--is 4. If a hitter reaches first on a dropped third strike by the catcher, the pitcher still gets credit for a strikeout, hence, more than 3 in an inning is possible. There is no theoretical maximum!
