Without a doubt it is. Why even bother w/ religion if you never question who created us and how we came to be. This should be your first step.

2timothy 3:16.17 says: "all scripture is inspired of God, and beneficial for teaching, and reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully equipped for every good work." since every book of the bible is equally inspired, there is not one particular book better than the other. it is interesting to note that a truly educated person is one that should have read the bible in its entirety.
They are all equally important. It is all the Word of God. How can one word of God be more important that the other?
