no i dont think its silly at all. its a chance to again step up after maybe a severe hardship or after many years together or reaffirm and redeclare your love for the other person.

Not in my case. My wife and I were married in 1994, and have renewed our vows since then. The reason we renewed our vows is that we keep falling in love with each other over and over again.

We were deeply in love to begin with, but every time I wake up, I want to marry her again, and she feels the same way.

I think it is very sweet once you have been married for a long time.

I think if you eloped and five years later you want a pretty dress and presents because your sister is getting them for her wedding, you should have thought of that before.

sometimes, love can be hard work and when ppl who love each other deeply have a huge falling out, they can show their recommitment to one and other by renewing the most sacred thing to their relationship. Their wedding vows

I think it's a good way for money to be made off the couple again. If you haven't screwed around on each other or separated for a really long time and then got back together, it seems rather pointless to me.

    What is next, re-baptism?

Not at all. To often, couples forget about those vows and how deeply they reach to the soul. I'm looking forward to our 20th anniversary. We will be renewing them in front of family and friends. I can't wait!

No it doesn't mean the first time they got married they didn't commit to their vows....but after many many years some couple want to RENEW their vows almost like saying...here's to another 25 years or 50 years together...and they may want to add something to their vows...i'm sure it can also be a way for them to express they're continuing love for eachother in front of they're family and friends....

My husband and I have been married for 22 years. We have three wonderful children, the first which was corn on our second anniversary. Somehwere in the day to day challenges or raising three kids and trying to make ends meet, but a house etc, we lost each other. Recently we wook a hard look at where we were headed and started focusing more on each other and fell in love again. It is a wonderful feeling that we are never going to lose again. That is why we are renewing our vows, a new commitment.

I guess that sometimes they want to have that "just married" feeling again. Refresh the marriage. Then, sometimes there is trouble in a marriage and when it has been worked out, couples want to recommit themselves to each other.

My husband and I are planning to renew our vows in Feb '08. We've decided to do this because when we got married we couldn't afford a ceramony or reception, so we just went to the courthouse.
When we renew our vows in a few months we will be able to invite the whole family to join in our celabration.
