    Well, I thought San Francisco was IN America...

    But yes, I believe they should. America is a huge nation, and must produce an enormous amount of bags. They should definitely replace these with biodegradable ones, as should the UK and the rest of the world.

    I think so. Australia has begun phasing them out. Some towns and suburbs of cities have outlawed their use. Many shops are voluntarily giving only recyclable bags out to customers.
    If Australia can, so can the US.

    What is the point of banning them? Have they become harmful? So you mean to tell me that when I travel to San Fran in the future with a plastic bag, they will take it from me in the airport?
