  • Help with the dishes, take out the garbage or walk the dog.
  • As the host you could point out that they just can feel at home. When I have guest, I treat them like family members, with attention and humor and love. I don't dress differently or show off my jewelry, I behave like I always do. You offer some snacks or beverages during the day, pieces of chocolate or similar and ask whether they would like to go somewhere, like a city tour. Don't forget to assign them their own towels, the bathroom must be clean and so must be the bed linens. Have a tiny little gift ready when they leave to remember their visit with you. One more thing: be sensitive with television and radio - those two are the most disturbing factors with home visits.

  • I usually dont concern myself with how someone is going to make me comfortable when I stay at their house, them letting me stay is good enough for me. Maybe a big glass of Sweet Tea would be great.
  • Have lots of whip cream and silly string on hand.
  • An unlimited supply of wine, liquor, & beer would do the trick quite nicely:)
  • Help to settle in, comments like "Please feel at home here, use anything you want, don´t be afraid to ask", and at the beginning attention to basic needs like food and rest. And that they act like it´s natural and positive for them to have guests, cause if they stress with all of the above you really just feel like a burden. I guess the most important thing is that they´re laid back.
  • I'd be more than happy with a relaxed atmosphere, clean sheets, and instructions to help myself to the coffee in the morning. When I have guests, I leave a basket in the washroom with travel-size shampoos, toothpaste, new toothbrushes, deodorant, baby powder... anything they might have inadvertently left behind.
