What would you say to someone who’s self medicating on homemade drugs?

    It depends on what is meant by "drugs".

    If for example there's some amount of herbalism going on, then the person self-medicating may have done some research into the matter. You may want to ask about the research.

    If the person is self-medicating using the dubious practice of "homeopathy" (i.e., diluting a substance with water to the point where the new liquid only contains water), then at least they are getting plenty of plain water. And any doctor who doesn't know what you have, or knows you have a viral infection like a cold or the flu, will advise plenty of liquids and bed rest.

    If the person is self-medicating using drugs s/he is concocting in a home chemistry set, such that s/he is attempting to replicate prescription drugs at home, ask where they got their chemistry degree from. If no chemistry degree is possessed by the person, you may want to stage an intervention. If a chemistry degree is possessed by the person, an intervention may be necessary anyway, as prescription drugs are darned hard to make at home.

    And finally, if the drugs being manufactured at home involve taking pills out of sinus medications and then are slow-cooked over a pot using dangerous chemicals and emitting flammable gases, call your local law enforcement. The person you turn in will switch to decent prison health care, and you'll get a hefty reward (to improve your own health care) for turning in the owner of a meth lab.
