What should you do if you aren't religious but you want you child to be baptised for his/her benefit.

• I'm not affiliated with any church and I have no children I'm just really curious. Like I don't want my future child to have to wait till it's older to decide and have to be the oldest one getting all the rituals done... and I want to do it so that if my child ends up with someone religious he/she can get married in a church too. BUT I hear that if I'm not religious a priest won't baptise my child.

• I was the oldest in my group at age 18 and the rest were about 10. It didn't really bother me, because I knew and understood what the baptism meant better than the others. But I'm not Catholic, so in my church infants are not baptised. It's common to see people wait until later in life. In fact, it's always really special when you see someone start coming to church and then decide they would like to be baptised.

• Well I personally would rather just get it over with as soon as possible because I won't be teaching my future child anything religious because my fiance and I aren't religious but we do want our child to be able to get married in a church if the person they marry is religious. That's all tho.
