Given: 2 in ID pipe 30 ft in length. How many gallons will it hold? Solution: Volume of the pipe= (pi)(r^2)L, r=d/2=1 in, L=30 ftx12 in/ft=360 in. V=(3.14159)(1^2)(360)=1131 in^3, 1 US gallon=231 in^3, so pipe contains 1131/231=4.9 US gallons
