I try to be patient, after all everyone is human.

But when their mantra becomes one of "I'll try" and they give up after the first attempt- consistently- then I start criticizing.

Depends on the situation. If whatever they are failing to do results in an effect that is detrimental to a number of people, they will catch hell. If it's something insignificant, I might ignore it unless it becomes a pattern.

I don`t think "criticize' is a good way to handle it.1)my expectations are sometimes extremely high. And people are not perfect.2)they listen better if it comes in the form of a suggestion....So,I am not quick to critize.Try to keep it to myself, hoping for better next time,or making suggestions to help....But when it happens over and Over,it gets harder to not critize, out of anger. It`s not good to critize out of anger.Just messes things up more.Criticism should only be Useful.

I don't have expectations of the people I care about. Instead I'm worried what expectations they have of me and whether or not I live up to them.

I keep my thoughts to myself,
but hold it against them forever.

Despite my exceptionally low expectations of others, I keep my thoughts to myself.... I guess I'm just used to it now so whats the point making a fuss.

The problem may lie within you. If you expect things from others which they are incapable of giving or unwilling to give, whose fault is that? Happy Friday m'dear! :) Since it could be my fault, saying anything to them is meaningless so I don't. I keep it to myself. I try to figure out why I expected something in the first place. I carry the responsibility of all my expectations ....I don't lay it on anyone else :)

I'm not quick to criticize just as a general rule.

If I were disappointed and it was a reasonable expectation, I would tell them as nicely as possible.

Why?, because I don't believe you don't solve a problem by beating people up.
