Not for quite a long time. There are still many obstacles, and people that think praying actually works.
Frighteningly enough it probably could end certain types of suffering given enough time and enough leeway.
Ever increasingly effective anti-depression meds to see to it that we never have a down day and face the most horrendous losses and terrible abuses with a Extenze/BOB smile on our faces.
Ever increasingly effective pain control to see that we have no awareness of pain. Likely no awareness of anything else, but we won't suffer pain. Just miss saying goodbye to our families if we don't get it in before the pill takes effect.
However, I find it hard to imagine that Scientific Advancement will find a way to stop financial suffering. Unless they come up with a way to grow money on trees.
It will eventually but it will take some time to evolve, we have to get past capitalism before this will become a reality.
Not unless we as a species grow socially responsible with it.
I think it has a definite chance, especially if certain people would get the fuck out of it's way! :)
Can? Yes. Is it likely to? No. Should we try? No.
