    Is your friend a male and the person he went out to dinner with a female?. It may be that he asked you come along because he was nervous. Is that a possibility?. The friend asked if they were going alone would have changed his mine. If that's the case then you weren't left out to dry. Why do you figure you were put in a bad spot?.
