The 86 RX7 has a hydraulic clutch release.
Your problem may be due to a leak in the seals of the master cylinder or slave cylinder or any flex line between the cylinders. Check the fluid level and look for fluid leaks. New and rebuilt parts are available.
check the auto tension adjuster if it has one
While you're under there checking the linkage also check the release bearing. Thats a possibility as well.
You need to check the linkage. I am guessing that the Mazda has a cable type linkage which could be broken or need lubrication. To check for sure, put the front up on jackstands, get underneath and have a look while someone works the clutch pedal for you.
I have a 91 rx7 turbo...last night my antilock light came on, then my interior and head lights got dim. when i tried to accelerate, the rpms or my boost hardly moved, yet i can hear the engine wanting to go. now it doesn't start, anyone know why?

Have a 1991 Mazda RX7. Last night was driving down interstate about 55 or 60 and all of a sudden the car just sorta bogged down and the check engine light came on at the same time. It did not die but if you tried to press the gas pedal down, it would bog.

Hey, i have a 1986 mazda rx7 that will start if we put a bit of gas directly into the engine, we've tested the fuel pump (when the keys turned on you can hear it) and it seems to be working, what else could it be?
