I always go for the raw talent. Lady Gaga uses all kinds of props but she has talent and imagination and makes it all work. I'm usually more for the real people who can think write and sing. Adam Lambert is very glam but he can sing better than anyone out there except maybe Christina Agulara.
Yes I do know that. It's called "auto-tune" and it is used by many artists with varying degrees of success. First used for famous effect in "Believe" by Cher, it is now used by a large part of the music industry. The Rap and Country segments are worst offenders. Several artists have protested, Jay-ze has a song on his latest album called "D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)" and some artists have taken to wearing blue ribbons at social occasions to protest its use.
It's a tool, like any other and can be used to great effect as Cher did, or the Black-Eyed Peas did on their latest album.
What I do object to, is when an "artist" uses it because they're too lazy to bother singing the song right or to get to notes either higher or lower than they are capable of reaching without aid.
It's pretty obvious when an artist uses the tool in addition to their considerable talents (Black-Eyed Peas) and when it's used because the artist couldn't be bothered not to use it (Yeah... I'm talkin' to you Kanye!).
Hope this helps.
i think its a shame, because just because someone has an acting career, or because their parents are famous doesnt mean they can sing. take hilary duff, miley cyrus, and any and every disney star. they all think they can sing, and im not saying they are horrible, but lets face it there is alot more undiscovered talent that are alot better than the people i mentioned. its faking the system, i would much rather hear a live performance that is great and justifies their cd, then one that blows major but their cd is good.
I dislike fake/phony everything. I heard that people walked out of a Brittny Spears Show because she was basically lip-synching.
Yah i hate that but mostly when they make a point of letting you know they did some weird trippy crap with their voices.
i never liked it the first time i heard it (I think i heard kid rock or cher do it first) and i still tooootaaally hate it. so annoying! yuck. its like 'damnit youre a singer arent you? well then sing for yourself!'
and then it just sounds bad.. they put this extra effort into making themselves sound terrible.
ew im getting all twitchy just thinking about it.

You're reading I am curious do you know that many singers today use a computer program to enhance their voice quality on recordings? Does this annoy you? Maybe we should all try? Is this money for nothing or the way you look?

They never pick the best one on any of those shows. Did you see Dancing with the Stars ever? Shawn whatever her name is won last year? Give me a break.
