I have close family members who do this. I have given up on joining conversations because they just talk over me in any case. I limit the time I spend with them.
A stranger who do this, I would not tolerate. I don't want people around who think what I have to say is not worth listening to. I usually stay away from such people.

There are some people that insist on always interrupting you or criticize you when you try to say something to them and then they complain you never talk to them. This way they put the blame on you and they never hear what you say.

I tend to take a passive-aggressive role in this situation -- talk about a totally unrelated subject (aliens) and throw out odd statements ("George Bush is a drunken hypocrite!") at inopportune times. This can be quite amusing to the initiator and confusing at best to the rest of the players. Occasionally, you may want to just look over your shoulder quickly and mumble about paranoid running deep. I bet they pay attention to you then...
