  • G'day K-mac63, Thank you for your question. In most cases, I would suggest lozenges. However, if you have burnt your throat badly, I would suggest that you go to a doctor or even a hospital for treatment. Regards
  • Hello. I have burnt my thoat badly in the past and found that the best way to ease the pain is to gargle sort throat gargle. However the throat itself will heal fully after about 10 days. In the mean time try not to eat too many hard or solid foods, as swallowing them can be very painful.
  • Answer Hi Robert, Good news and bad news. Bad news first (not THAT bad): Burns in the mouth and throat CAN be serious, mostly because they can swell quite a bit and block your airway. The good news is that they heal very well and leave little lasting damage. Bad news again: They hurt! Good news: It should be feeling better after 7 to 10 days. and should be completely healed after 2 weeks assuming that the burn wasn't involving underlying tissues. A couple of questions. Did the burn blister your throat? Other parts of your mouth? Do you have any problems breathing? Can you swallow without problems? Those are really questions that should be asked within 24 hours of when the burn happened. (next time you will know!) If any answers were 'Yes' then you should have seen your Doc or gone to the emergency room. OK, What to do? Believe it or not it feels like a sore throat because it IS a sore throat! Treat it as you would any other sore throat. Tylenol, soft foods, cool drinks, or cough drops will help get you through it. I suspect you will be feeling better today than yesterday, so hang in there. Mouths heal quickly so have some faith! stay away from cold meds that dry out mucus membranes though. If the pain STAYS THE SAME see your doc. If that happens you may have some complications which need more potent intervention. If a fever shows up that should send you to the Doc as well. OK? Hope you feel better soon. Any further questions? Feel free to ask. I'm here. JimB its is from http://en.allexperts.com/q/Burns-1441/Burned-throat.htm
