Since I'm almost always tired, I guess it's more than I get (about six hours).
Actually, six hours would probably be sufficient if I was really asleep all of that time; I often just lay there awake, thinking about stuff, unable to sleep.
I usually prefer to sleep about eight to ten. I have to have at least six to function.

I personally function best on 8-10.
