You changed the VSS at the tranny output yoke? Check wiring connections above the transmission, it is also possible that the new VSS is no good. Carefully pull apart connectors and check the pins to make sure that they are not spread apart and are making good contact. May also be that a computer is going out. I am not all that familiar with the smart shift trannys so I don't know how they get the VSS signal (i.e. if they read it directly from the VSS or if they get it second hand from the dash module). One other thing to check is the clearance of the VSS sensor to the reluctor ring. If it is adjustable you may need to get a set of brass or aluminum feeler gauges and check the clearance. You will also need to get the clearance spec. from Freightliner.

I have a 1997 fld120 and i lost my buzzer red warning light on the dash but the other lights work such as the fan.can anybody help?

You're reading 04 freightliner 60 series detroit with fuller 10 speed smart shift . speedometer stops after 150 miles or so . it puts f in the selector box makes it hard to down shift or up shift works fine when cool no codes found . changed out put sensor any idea?
