I have said this to an abuser when I was on my way out and he was starting the 'sorrow, I'll never do it again, lovey dovey stuff'. I think he was surprised, but not truly hurt. I didn't say it to hurt him. I was so exasperated that it just fell out with my own hurt. I was the one hurt and wasted so much time loving someone who only wanted to have a doormat. I don't think he has any idea what love is. Now I feel for the women after me. He was such a great actor and manipulator, it was shocking when his true character emerged.

I can't imagine anyone ever saying that to me. If so, I don't think I'd be hurt because I treasure the love that others give. I would want to know the hurt behind it and what was going on.
