  • Could be their insurance policy. They may not be covered if you come back and complain about further leaks on areas they didn't fix.
  • It is a lot more work to patch something than to fix it and do you honestly think that you wouldn't pass the blame for the next leak to whomever worked on it last. As a contractor, you are asking me to do something that I do not believe is the best option and I opt out of those situations all the time. A well done job may be its own reward but if I do a job that does not please my customer 100%, they will talk me down to others. It is not worth the bad publicity and reputation damage to try to save you a few dollars in a situation where I am pretty sure it will cost you more in the long run. Early business lesson, it is not worth it. Walk away and let the next person learn the lesson the hard way.
  • They have families to feed and patch work doesnt pay much.
  • Unless you're just sealing the flashing or some nails that have backed out, leaks are often more extensive than they appear; the water travels underneath to some point where it leaks through.
