Help answer this question below.
As predisposed as anyone else out there.
Some people killed themselves for a reason, especially a long time ago when there were wars going on and life was more fraught with death and disease. It is not necessarily an automatic pointer to mental health issues.
And family history shouldn't really come into it at all on how one judges an individual.
Without "judgement" I answer with another question. How likely is character in our genes? Are some "tribes" more inclined to survival while some are more apt to flee from life's problems?

You're reading Genetically speaking...Children whose grandmother attempted suicide and whose same grandmother's grandmother successfully committed suicide, how predisposed to mental health issues might they be? Divorce disallowed much contact with gm in question.

I find it very interesting how many times the word and variations of the word "judge" have come up since I posted this question. I agree somewhat with your take on suicide perhaps being more predominate in times gone by; I would like to introduce the idea that suicide, or attempts at suicide could possibly indicate weakness in character as opposed to survival instincts. Mostly I suppose I am curious if character per se is or could possibly be in the genes... Possibly some nationalities are in fact more prone to survival while others may be more inclined to flee from problems life poses? No judgement here, I'm merely curious.
