I'm going to have to go with Harry Potter. Probably because it's what I've been with longer. I like the Eragon movie better than the Harry Potter movies, though.

It depends on which ones you're talking about. I think Eragon the book is better than the first 2 Harry Potter books, but not the rest. The sequel to Eragon (Eldest) is...better than the 1st 3 and nearly equal to the 4th. The Eragon movie can't even touch any of the Harry Potter ones tho.

Harry Potter failed to entertain my hungry mind. Where as Eragon did. Dont know why but I am going to have to disagree with most && say eragon!

I think Eragon is better. Even though the movie wasnt even close to how amazing the book was, Eragon was fantastic and could not put it down, same with Eldest. Its been almost a year and a half since I finished the first two and waiting for the third is killing me! The Harry Potter books are also great but if the newest Harry Potter book and the new Inheritance Trilogy book came out on the same day and I had enough money to buy only one... Harry Potter would be staying at the store.

They both orgy in a muddy pit filled with swine, in my honest opinion. Dostoyevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov" was a much better read.

Eragon hands down. I read Harry Potter and it wasn't a good book. I can't wait for the final book of Eragon!!!!

It is Eragon it is the best. In Eragon you have to work for your magic and cant do very big magic. In Harry Potter you have unlimited amount of energy and you can kill anyone. They are still my favorite books but Eragon overkills Harry Potter.

Hmm throughout my childhood and into my teens, i grew up with Harry Potter, and i loved it and it fascinated me. But then, i picked up Eragon. Eragon appealed to me so much more for some reason. I could see much more thought put behind it, and much more skill in the writing. As I read Brisinger (third book in inheritance cycle) I realized just how much better it was than Harry Potter. I think the $8 I spent on Eragon was the best 8 bucks spent in my life. I've read countless stories, but I would have to say Eragon and the Inheritance Series takes first place without a doubt, and Harry Potter maybe second.

Both are good series, but Brisingr was kinda lacklustre for me. I like the set-up, but it kinda seemed just that: a set-up for this final fourth book. Still, I guess Harry Potter had a few books like that (Goblet of Fire being the first one that comes to my mind) but at the moment I'd probably go with Harry Potter overall. Once I read that last Inheritance book, though, I may change my mind :P

Eragon, especially when you consider the age of the budding author. He was 15 when he started the series.
