  • If you dont know a lot about horses then i dont suggest you get one at all. Are you intending to keep one as a pet? The needs of a miniture/shetland pony are the same as that of a larger horse or pony, they may even be more demanding since you need to be vigilant with the maintenence of their diet and hoofcare as they are prone to laminitis.
  • You are going to have different issues with a pony than with a horse. Ponies are extremely prone to founder and need to be kept on a drylot, that is, no grass. They will still need room to move around, however. As far as telling you everything you need to know about them, that is enough to fill a book. There isn't enough room to tell you everything you need to know here. You need to start reading up on it. Horses and ponies are fairly delicate creatures and it is easy to kill them if you don't know what you are doing.
