When I was in sales, I would go out of my way to obstruct obnoxious customers, and assist pleasant customers, so perhaps there are more obnoxious customers these days, who have ruined it for the rest of us!!

I think some customers blew it for the rest of us by trying to take advantage of this motto.

I think it evaporated about the same time as they started putting pictures on McDonalds cashregister keys so retail clerks wouldn't have to be able to identify numbers.
