Yes, absolutely. I was looking through the available TV channels the other day, and every single one of them was showing rubbish. I remember asking myself whether people could actually be this stupid, or do the TV companies underestimate their audience.

Maybe this generation is dumbing down the media. They're not going to show what people don't want to watch. Has anyone seen the movie "Idiocracy" yet?

I think that many people in every aging generation believe that the younger and/or current generations are always more stupid than they themselves. And to blame the media for yet another disillusioned opinion of life is tiresome to me. +5

I agree. The mass-media, television in particular, presents a predigested simplified analysis of the worlds events. Even more alarming is the "Balkanization" of media, where each faction has its own news outlet that feeds its clients only the news and "spin" they want to hear. I'm describing only news media here. Popular entertainment is now completely incomprehensible to me. +3
