I had a malamute/wolf years ago. She was one of the best dogs I have ever owned. She was great with the kids and very protective of them. The only problem with her was she liked to kill. We lived in the country and she ran free. She would get into chicken coops and one time she brought home a goat. She also killed a fox in the front yard. Most of that was when she was young, she mellowed a lot as she got older.

No hybrids for me. Only a gas-powered V8 Wolf for me.

Yes, I love wolves and dogs... But I need to get my own property and it's gotta be big enough...

I understand the risks of hybrids, but I think that with the proper handling, they can be as wonderful as any other canine companion...

I would not buy or take any animal companion that has to be "let out" 2 or 3 times a day, since I am not home that often every day.
As for dog-wolves in particular, keep in mind that dogs as we know them are the result of thousands of years (therefore hundreds if not thousands of dog generations) of selective breeding for docility. No wild animal domesticates like one so bred. By bringing in wolf genes, you are erasing half that history of breeding and bringing in those genes that survive best with wild skills and not human companionship skills.

I think they look lovely but I don't have a large enough property to keep one happy and comfortable. If I did, and was rich enough, then I would want one.

NO. And I don't believe in breeding dogs to wolves. And that is all I am going to say about that.

I have a timber /malamute hybrid. She is great..Ive had her since she was 10 weeks.she is 3yrs now.She has a wonderful personality. She is very loyal, and loves every member of her family. She gets attached to people very easily.Once she thinks you are her's,she is very protective.However...I do not recommend anyone to just go out and get one cause they are cute..These dogs are NOT easily trained. In Zuni's case she pretty much does what she wants to.she does have boundaries, and knows not to cross them.We live in the country, but I do not let her run free.Mostly for her safety she is kept inside a hot fence when I'm not home.No one but me is aloud to let her out.I let her out when I come home, but then she is chained (on a very long runner).she has access to the family, the lake, and is very thankful for this quality time. Some people think that it's cruel that I dont let her run free. The same people that think that would have her shot for killing their animals !! These hybrids do not like ANY other animals. They will kill. The other reason she isnt left to run free is because someone would shoot her.Either for sport or fear.I love my wolf dog and will always protect her.It is a huge responsibility to own a wolf dog.Anyone looking to buy a wolf dog should do alot of research before, this will help you and the wolf dog. Please keep in mind these high spirited animals are very smart..

I never bought one before.. but we did get gifted with one.. And she's quite the goofball xD I honestly love her spunk too..though she's proven stubborn to train on a couple of things.. Very VERY smart girl though.
