Help answer this question below.
We are on a giant rock hurtling through space...our doom could come at any minute by an infinite number of situations and events. I don't see the odds of this being any more or less likely due to a planetary alignment, even if it is a rare alignment.
I agree. I remember y2k and it was a big hoax. Its just a scam to make make people to buy servival supply
It's been fairly determined already that nothing will happen in 2012, but unfortunately there are still those who want to cling to their fantasy, still for some reason want the world to end. But, as with every single alarmist panic throughout history, nothing will happen.
Also, it's December 21st, not December 12th.
Does it really matter
If the world is going to end there isn't a GD f**king thing anyone can do to prevent it
Asking the Q 5,000 times in slightly different form is moot
E f**king nuff with the 2012 Q's already
-5 for a repeat of a repeat
Y2K was a "man-created" event, which human beings brought upon themselves.
"2012" refers to a celestial alignment of planets, which occurs once every 640,000 years, which means that this particular alignment hasn't occurred in all of recorded human history, because human beings (as we know them) have not existed on Planet Earth, for all that long.
The alignment is a fact, and it cannot be changed nor prevented. What is NOT known (and is only speculated, at this point in time) is how the celestial alignment of the planets in our solar system will affect our own very fragile planet.
Supposedly, some sort of shifting of the Earth's crust may occur, as was first predicted by some scientist in 1958. And, it is futher predicted that Earth could have an "axial shift" of some kind, which could place the South Pole somewhere in Wisconsin. The current North and South Poles could end up being where our Equator is now.
But, that's all strictly speculation. We won't know what is REALLY gonna happen, until it actually DOES happen.
Then, of course, it will be "too late."

I agree with you...It is said in the Bible that the doomsday will come on unpredictable time. My theory is that it will come on a day when not even only oneperson think about doomsday..^^,just my idea...of course no one should have determined something which is not his/her right..

I like the category you chose for this question.
i stood outside at midnight for Y2K waiting for something, anything.i was so disappointed,i really wanted some super negative to happen.i will never get my hopes up for any other end of the world BS again.
It doesn't matter. If "the end" comes in 2012 there isn't a darn thing you can do about it.
If you KNEW the end would come that day, what would you do differently? Maybe you should do that anyway, whatever it is.
Agree. What will really happen is that some people will make good money selling DVD's and books regarding the "2012 Doomsday". Then they will count the money and will come up with some other interesting way of making money.
Take a look at this interesting article:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/11/photogalleries/2012-movie-end-of-the-world-pictures/index.html
And this other one that lists ten failed doomsday prophecies:

Some thing will happen. Too much is now invested in this date with a lot more history than y2K. You say nothing predicted happened, but something did happen. It became more evident that the power of media speculation could influence the world. Now whether your exposure to the media has lead to speculation on this date could set you up for some disappointment. The facts , 2012 solstice was predetermined by a rather accurate calendar from it's conception, from our present perspective. Astrophysics confirms there will be a galactic alignment to the centre of the Milkway and our Earth. Other than these two examples every thing else can be summed up to speculation and conjecture.
Agreed.
VERY much so...
According to Isaac Asimov's Book of Facts (1979), an Assyrian clay tablet dating to approximately 2800 BC was unearthed bearing the words "Our earth is degenerate in these latter days. There are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end. Bribery and corruption are common." This is one of the earliest examples of the perception of moral decay in society being interpreted as a sign of the imminent end.

I'm with Occam
were on a big f**king rock, that is full of tectonic plates and at anytime it could all comes crashing down
If it happens there isn't crap we can do about it
guess we will all find out on 12/13/2012
I disagree. I believe that on 12/12/2012 the human race will realize for another time that we are a gullible bunch of turkeys staring into the raining sky until we drown. We are so stupid that we kill ourselves with curiosity and legends. I believe that on this date the Mayans will look so primitive that the history books will put them down as a bunch of hallucinating hippies.......Your mom smells like cheese...Fuck you.....
disagree with 2012 cause y believe a calender that wass made up by a bunch of ppl that hid in caves and killed theirselves off. its like asking would you believe a suicide cult said today.

hahah I said I don't see a planetary alignment being any more or less a cause for an extinction level event..so I agree, nothing will happen on 12/21/12.
