• What a great attitude. No wonder you are alone. If I based my life on blaming a disease and on disappointments from years ago I might as well just give up. Do you miss the comfort in being said Kurt Cobain?

• I don't "blame" anything.I did not even know it was called Aspergers Syndrome until only recently. All I know is that I lack the ability to read nonverbal cues and have no aptitude to learn. I stopped trying to socialize in my teens since I do not have masochistic tendencies and do not enjoy ridicule and rejection. Loneliness is the lesser of two evils. Blocking out the social instinct is a survival mechanism. I resent your attitude as you have absolutely no idea of my life situation and I have done nothing to insult you.Attitudes such as yours were what caused me to leave AB some years ago.I see nothing has changed. I have no idea what or who a Cobain is.

• I changed my mind with your second answer. I apologize. I think you are brave. Kurt Cobain used to always sing about misery. I am sorry. What you are enduring is something I know nothing about. You have done nothing to insult me. I promise I owe you my own study of this disease and I will speak about such things with an informed mind from now on. I hope you stay on AB, you can enlighten many of this. Bless you and so sorry.

• Peace be with you. I was worried that I had just provoked another "sh*t storm" such as forced me to leave AB in 2007. There are several good websites on AS but the Wikipedia article is a good starting point.The "We are Autism" site is also good. One of the current problems in Aspergers Syndrome is that it was only being diagnosed since the early '90s. There are fairly effective treatments for children and teens, but older adults such as myself are considered basically untreatable. Some of this is due to the fact that many of us have developed major social phobias as a defense mechanism. Social skills, like language aquisition, are much more easily learned while young (under 10).By the time many of us are in our 50s, such as I am,the aptitude for learning these nonverbal cues has disappeared. It was suggested in one comment thread that what we need is a comprehensive "tech manual" for social skills and nonverbal communication. Feel free to contact me for more sources. :^)

• My daughter suffers from bi polar issues. I have had depression and suffer from alcoholism which has been at bay for 2 decades now. I really am glad you have the heart and mind to speak to me. I never realized I was bashing someone who really had a reason to be unahappy. There are many on here that just say negative things to sling arrows at others. I will definitely check out Asberger's. Keep in touch. I know I will be glad if you do. Thank you for your understanding of my idiotic behavior.

• It's not your fault. My initial answer was clumsily worded. I too have alcohol issues, but not "at bay". A case of scotch a week is my "fix". I have no real desire to stop either. The booze and Valium is the only way I can sleep.

• The only good was accidental.Paxil was supposed to work on the social phobia, but didn't. It does have the nice side effect of destroying sex-drive, which for me is a blessing.
