Jesus never exist, no one can visit fictional character. Nature of these men is uncertain. Some say they are Magi are Medes' sorcerors. Astonomers not find any astronomical event then. Jesus' birth year is uncertain, is born at warm weather not winter however. Matthew say Jesus born few years before Herod die, historians show that is 4BC. Herod seek baby boys age 2 or less, Joseph move Egypt until Herod die. Matthew have Jesus born 7-12BC. Luke say Jesus born during Quirinius' census, he become governor 7AD, thus Jesus born maybe 7-12AD Luke say. Is difference of 14-24 years between Mathew's and Luke's year of Jesus' birth.

There is no indication that there were THREE "Magi or Astrologers." Most likely because there were THREE gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” (Matthew 2:11)

Is it sound reasoning to conclude that since the Magi gave three different gifts, there must have been three Magi?

Consider the account of another notable visitor to Israel. The queen of Sheba once visited King Solomon and presented him with “balsam oil and very much gold and precious stones.” (1 Kings 10:2) Although three different kinds of gifts are spoken of, the only person mentioned as giving them is the queen of Sheba. The number of her presents does not indicate that three people approached Solomon on that occasion. Similarly, the three gifts made to Jesus have little to do with the number of people who brought them.

The Catholic Encyclopedia notes: “The Gospel narrative omits to mention the number of the Magi, and there is no certain tradition in this matter. Some Fathers speak of three Magi; they are very likely influenced by the number of gifts.”

It goes on to mention that various works of art show two, three, four, and even eight visiting Jesus. Some traditions favor up to 12. There is simply no way to verify the number of the Magi.

What is interesting is that the Magi did not find Jesus lying in a manger either. (see Matthew 2:1, 11) They were not present at the time of Jesus' birth.

There was probably a whole caravan, since traveling in greater numbers was more wise at the time because of robbers. However, there was 3 gifts. They also most likely visited him at his parents house when he was somewhere between 1 and 2 years old. Because after the wise men left, Hared put out and order to kill all boys 2 years and under.

We don't know how many there were, but they visited him 2 years after the birth. It took that long to find Him.

Wise men did visit but we do not know the number. 3 is assumed because there are 3 gifts brought by the wise men.

Don't think they could have. The entire store around them is that they visited during christmas time, but Jesus wasn't born until April. The story of Jesus being born on December 25th was to compete with the pegan holidays of the same time.

Besides, they had no idea Jesus would become a 'king'. He was born Jewish, into a wealth but not royal family. According to the story, Jesus didn't become anything 'special' until be was an older boy, and beat the Pharracies (spelling) with reeds for blastpheming the name of his father (God). However, Jesus wasn't Christian by any means, since Christianity was invented about 100 years after his death, by his prophets', prophets', prohpets.

Further, he didn't claimed to be the son of God until much later. Far too late for the three wise men to visit him as a baby and regard him as king.

I could go on like this forever.

We have only one hearsay account. (The number is traditional; it's never specified.) And the fairly drastic events near the end of that account seem not to have drawn the lest notice by anyone at all.

It is my understanding that the three 'wise men' were really ancient astrologers...they knew of the coming birth of a 'savior'.....it took them a long time to get to where Jesus was, so he was not a newborn when they got there; remember, the 'star' (really a conjunction of two planets) pointed to where Jesus was at the time of his birth; so it's not very likely that these three men were right on time for his being born!!

But, alas, there is always so much speculation about this event!!

And I thought EVERYONE knew that Dec. 25th was chosen as it was the birthdate for some pagan god, and the emporer at that time was trying to 'ease' his people into accepting Christ, so kept the Dec. 25th date for their sake...
