Of course! The members of Christs early church were called Saints. And since the Church of Jesus Christ is a restoration of that early Church, we are the Saints of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter Days. Or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Not too difficult to figure out...Later
We do believe that Daniel's prophecy is applicable to us in our day. We believe that the kingdom that God will raise up is in fact the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I am beginning to believe more and more, from what I've seen, that this is, in fact, true. I believe Bring'em young had no problem planning the murder of the Fancher wagon train (along with any other unpublicized murders) for this very reason. If they believe "ALL THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS WILL BE FORGIVEN" as it says, then why not murder and steal your way into ruling the earth. Just as it says. Personally I have to believe this is the "strong delusion" that would be sent for those who wanted to be evil. BTW From what I've seen, the Mountain Meadows Massacre has never really ended. They've just been more careful and more selective in who they murder.
Yes they do.
That is entirely correct.
1832?: Joseph Smith (1805-1844) was the founder of the Church of Christ, which became the Restorationist movement after many schisms. It now includes The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -- a.k.a. the Mormons, and about a hundred other denominations and sects. He heard a voice while praying. He wrote, in Doctrines and Covenants section 130:
14: "I was once praying very earnestly to know the time of the coming of the Son of Man, when I heard a voice repeat the following:"
15: "Joseph, my son, if thou livest until thou art eighty-five years old, thou shalt see the face of the Son of Man; therefore let this suffice, and trouble me no more on this matter."
16: "I was left thus, without being able to decide whether this coming referred to the beginning of the millennium or to some previous appearing, or whether I should die and thus see his face."
17: "I believe the coming of the Son of Man will not be any sooner than that time." 14
The year in which this event occurred is not recorded. However, one commentator suggested 1832 or earlier. 16 Smith is later recorded as having said:
"I prophesy in the name of the Lord God, and let it be written--the Son of Man will not come in the clouds of heaven till I am eighty-five years old." 17

After reading Anonymous' answer, his real intentions show.
By acknowledging that we believe we are saints living in the last days, then we believe the description in the book of Daniel ("ALL THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS WILL BE FORGIVEN") applies to us.
Unfortunately for Anonymous, we have never identified ourselves with that particular passage.
Yes they do, however they believe that anyone can become said Saint.

You're reading Do the mormons really believe they are the Saints of the last days, as spoken of in Daniel? Is that why they have been called latter day saints? Anyone else been told this?
