How do the news reporters know what the weather will be over time?

    They don't, they are selling You bullshit estimates.
    Weather can only be correctly forecasted for very
    short amounts of time in most cases. If You never
    checked a forecast for another day when it was
    supposed to be rainy, but was sunny or vice versa,
    then maybe start checking the weather forecasts.
    Though the forecast is probably better than nothing.
    .
    There is that comment Nicolas Cage made in the
    movie "Weather Man". Something like:
    - "So what will be the weather tomorrow?"
    - "How should I know? It's wind. It's blowing all over the place."

    They have access to information from the US Weather Bureau. And the bureau have computers which forecast the weather days in advance.
