Question

Help answer this question below.

My cat keeps throwing up (about once every couple days). It's never a hairball but almost recognizably cat food. He's an indoor cat (I don't know if that's relevant). He seems to feel okay.

Mine does this when I switched cat food brands, when it ate a lady bug (asian kind) when it is upset, when it got older. Try getting an indoor forumla, make sure you mix it well with exsisting catfood brand. May need more attention, may have eaten a bug or spider. It also could have delveloped an allrgic reaction to it's kitty litter. (something my vet told me)

If all else does not apply or help see a vet.

Throwing up is a symptom that something is not right. Check kitty out by a vet if you can.

One of my cats also does this. I find it happens when he eats to fast. However, you should probably mention it to your vet, as it could be a symptom of something else.

I'm not a vet, but I thought that most cats do that. You should call a vet and ask them. +5

i took my kitten to the vet for the same thing! she was throwing up for about a week and a half and it was when she would eat. The vet wanted to run all these expensive tests on her wich i couldnt afford. To make a long story short, it could either be parasites or hairball (even though its food coming up) I gave her both a dewormer and i put some of that hairball tuna flavored gel on her paws..needless to say that it worked! she was instantly all better and i saved myself 500 dollars !! =)

If the first ingredient in your cat food is "corn meal," there's your problem. Cats are carnivores and can't digest things like corn and wheat, and they come out as vomit and soft stools. Corn meal is a filler in cheap, low-grade cat food. Try feeding your cat a higher-grade cat food with "chicken meal" as the first ingredient and no corn meal. Feeding your cat good food helps keep the cat at a healthy weight, gives him more energy, makes him eat less to get the nutrition he needs, prevents diarrhea, and helps your cat live a long, healthy life.
