Could you explain a bit more clearly what it is that you're trying to do, please?
My guess is that you're trying to add a value (let's say a constant, such as "some number") to several cells over several rows. That can be done, but I hesitate to say "do this and this and this" without a better understanding of what you're trying to achieve. Once I understand your question better, I think I might have an answer for you.
When I sort a list in Excel it sorts A to Z then A to Z again, not the same items, just half of it on top and half on bottom. Why?

I need a formula in Excel that does the following..
If the value in cell A1=X, then multiply cell B1 by 5..if A1=Y, then multiply B1 by 8.

No matter what cells I select, the freeze panes option always selects the first 15 rows to freeze. How do I fix this in Excel 2010?
