Peter chose to cast lots to decide who would replace Judas as the 12th apostle. Why are Popes in the Roman Catholic Church not chosen in the same way?

    In a way they are selected by lots, or Votes. The College of Cardinals meet, discuss who they might want, nominate someone and then they vote for him. Don't know if the voting has to unanimous or just a majority.

    Because St Peter has no connection with the catholic church. The catholic church makes up rules and changes them to suit them selves. It doesn't really matter because popes are just men and will be judged by God, just like the rest of us.
