  • Emerson alarm clocks are versatile alarms, capable of waking you with music from the radio, music from a CD or a loud buzzer. Not all Emerson alarms have the same features, and understanding the controls can be difficult without a user's manual, but the basic controls are similar from model to model, which makes setting the alarm easy.

    Set the Alarm Time

Emerson alarm clocks have two alarms: Alarm 1 and Alarm 2. The buttons that control these alarms are on top of the alarm clock, labeled "Alarm" or "ALM." To set an alarm, push and hold the "Alarm" button and then press the "Up" and "Down" buttons to adjust the time. If the alarm does not have "Up" or "Down" buttons, or if pushing the "Up" and "Down" buttons does nothing, try adjusting the time with the "Forward" and "Reverse" buttons. Once the desired time appears on the alarm face, release the "Alarm" button.

    Set the Alarm Mode

You can pick which days the alarm will sound if your alarm clock has a "Mode" or an "Alm. Mode" button. Set the alarm mode by holding the "Alarm" button and pushing the "Mode" button to cycle through the modes. Indicator lights on the face of the alarm clock will light up, indicating that you have set the alarm to go off every day, on weekdays or on weekends.

    Check the Alarm

Check the alarm settings by holding down the "Alarm 1" or "Alarm 2" button. The clock face will display both the time and the mode for that particular alarm.

    Activate the Alarm

Once you have set an alarm, look for the switches labeled "Alarm 1" and "Alarm 2." The alarm switches will be either on the side of the alarm clock or on the top. Slide the appropriate switch to the "Buzzer" position to activate the alarm; it will go off at the set time. If you do not want the alarm to go off, slide the switch to the "Off" position. Emerson alarm clocks with a CD player or a radio allow you to wake up to music instead of a buzzer. If your "Alarm" switches have a "Radio" or "CD" position, first slide the switch to that position, then push the "Off" button on top of the alarm clock. When it goes off, the alarm will remember the volume and settings from the last time the radio or CD player was used, so make sure you set the radio or CD player to a volume that will wake you.
