Help answer this question below.
The year of the car does determine its performance and ultimately when maintenance should occur. Newer models are less likely to need the transmission fluid changed. For a 1998 Sienna, the transmission fluid should be checked every 15,000 miles while a 2005 Sienna fluid is recommended inspection every 30,000 miles, according to the Toyota Sienna schedule and maintenance guide. How you use your car also determines its wear and maintenance. If you are towing, you will need to change the transmission fluid sooner and more often. For a 1998 Sienna, it should be replaced every 15,000 miles or 12 months. For a 2000 Sienna, it should be replaced every 30,000 miles or 24 months and for a 2005 Sienna, every 30,000 miles or 36 months. The transmission fluid does not need to be changed often when the car is used for everyday tasks, like driving to and from appointments or work. Generally, the Sienna vehicles have a major check and change of engine coolant and filters at 60,000 miles. This is an ideal time to see if the transmission fluid should be replaced, if it hasn't been done.On One Hand: Model Year
