Insaniquarium is an arcade-style computer game created by Flying Bear Entertainment and subsequently distributed by companies such as PopCap Games, Gamehouse and several other online games websites. Some websites allow free Insaniquarium gameplay. The game starts out slow, but they don't call it Insaniquarium for nothing. It's a fun and extremely addicting video game.

Basic Gameplay

Insaniquarium is a virtual aquarium featuring colorful underwater plants, air bubbles, and a sandy bottom. When the game opens two small fish populate the aquarium. You must feed the fish by clicking your mouse in the water to drop food pellets. The fish will eat the food pellets and grow. Once the fish begin to grow, they drop coins. You click the coins to collect them, which unlocks upgrade items you can then purchase. These items include better food pellets, the ability to drop more than one food pellet at a time, and egg pieces (found to the left of your coin count). Buying three egg pieces ends the round and earns you helpful pets, such as a snail that helps you collect coins, a seahorse that helps feed your fish, and an oyster that gives you pearls worth more money than the coins. There are new pets introduced at each level. In the beginning stages, work toward buying fish so you can earn more money. Hint: Keep the number of fish you purchase in line with how many pellets of food you can drop. The fish don't need to eat constantly, but if you have too many fish and can only drop one or two pellets of food at a time, your fish will turn green and then die.

Killing Aliens

Aliens will attack at every level. Aliens eat your fish. When an alien appears, point your mouse cursor at it and click the left button as fast as you can until he dies. To keep him away from your fish in the meantime, nudge the alien away you shoot it. Hitting the top left of its head will push it down and to your right. One good strategy is to force the alien into a corner. Hint: Don't forget to claim the diamond when the alien dies; it's worth extra money. There are several kinds of aliens, some easier and some harder to kill. One level includes an alien you can't kill with a gun. The secret is to feed it your fish food until it explodes.

Effective Gameplay

Purchase food upgrades as soon as you can. Better food makes keeps your fish full longer. Purchase stronger weapons as they become available. This will allow you to defeat the alien more quickly. The carnivore, which you can unlock in level one, is a moneymaker. It costs $1,000 dollars to purchase. Keep the carnivore alive by buying guppies for it to eat. The carnivore produces two diamonds per guppy, with each diamond bringing you $200. You can use up to three pets at a time. If you have more than three pets, experiment with different combinations of three to see which are most helpful to you. In addition to the 21 levels of the game, you can earn shell pieces to buy a virtual aquarium screensaver; you can also play the time-trial mode or challenge mode.
