Help answer this question below.
A garage is used by most people as nothing more than a place to park a car and as a place to store tools and other items you may not have room for in your home. If you're only using your garage as storage for your car and tools, one light in the center of the ceiling should be plenty. This will give you enough light to walk to and from your car or to and from the tool area to get what you need. If you need more light, you can always open the garage doors or a window (if you have one) for natural light. If you're turning your garage into a gym, another bedroom, a studio or any other room you know you'll be using more often than simply to walk to your car, more than one light may be necessary. It may be a good idea to have desk lamps on your work desk, a floor lamp around a gym area or even replacing the ceiling light with track lighting to light more of the space at once. It's best to use high-quality, compact fluorescent bulbs, which are energy-efficient, for lighting a space in which you'll be spending a lot of time. Any room anywhere that you spend a good amount of time in should be well lit, as its better for your eyes. This rule also applies to your home garage. Determine how you're planning on using your garage---as just a garage or will it serve another purpose? This answer will help you decide on how much lighting and what type of lighting to use in the space. On One Hand: Few Uses, One Light
On the Other: More Light (for Multiple Uses)
