The body's major systems and chronic high blood pressure affect each other in a complex way, so it is difficult to pinpoint the mechanisms that lead to hypertension. But that doesn't mean you can't find them. Most doctors agree that renal (kidney), nervous, hormonal and vascular systems are most likely the systems involved, with help from other genetic and environmental factors. Factors such as age, race, hereditary and gender all play a part in hypertension. This won't change, so focus on the areas you can help. Diet, lifestyle, emotional state and environment that can make a big difference in addressing hypertension, and all of these factors are in a woman's control. Carrying too much weight, smoking, excessive drinking, high cholesterol, inflammation, insulin sensitivity and emotional states affect the progression of hypertension. These factors can be changed by losing weight, quitting smoking, limiting alcoholic drinks, modifying your diet and turning to yoga or a therapist for emotional help. Stress is a major factor in the progression of hypertension. Stop working once you leave the office. Spend quality time with your family doing things you all love, and, most important, create time for yourself by relaxing with a bath and a book. Your health depends on it.Theories
